I will not release him until you release my son!
~Several months after Badr, 2 AH · 2 AH
Several months after Badr, an elderly man of the Ansar named Sa'd ibn al-Nu'man travelled to Makkah to trade and to perform Umrah. He had nothing to do with the battle. Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, the leader of the Quraysh, had refused to pay a ransom for his son Amr ibn Abi Sufyan, who had been captured at Badr. Now Abu Sufyan kidnapped Sa'd in broad daylight inside the Haram, the sacred precinct of Makkah, where even the Quraysh had always forbidden such acts. He said he would not release Sa'd until the Muslims released his son. Sa'd's tribe brought the matter to the Prophet ﷺ, who released Amr without ransom so that Sa'd could go free.
Outcome: Amr ibn Abi Sufyan was released without ransom and swapped for Sa'd ibn al-Nu'man.
The lecture points to this as a double standard of the Quraysh. They had protested loudly when some Muslims made a mistake and killed a man during a Sacred Month. Yet no one spoke up when their own chieftain kidnapped a man in broad daylight in front of the Ka'bah. Even so, the Prophet ﷺ dealt with this injustice practically, in order to secure Sa'd's release.
