Details differ across the sources
Sources differ on whether Ruqayyah was the first, second, or third daughter of the Prophet ﷺ.
Ruqayyah RA, the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ and wife of Uthman ibn Affan RA, passed away in Madinah. The Prophet ﷺ had told Uthman RA to stay behind from the Battle of Badr to nurse her. Uthman RA had just finished burying her at Baqi' al-Gharqad when he heard cries of takbir ("Allahu akbar") in the city. It was Zayd ibn Harithah RA arriving with news of the victory at Badr.
No one knows for certain the birth order of the Prophet ﷺ's daughters. Some say Ruqayyah was the first, some the second and some the third. But she was certainly the first of them to die. Her death fell on the happiest day of early Islam, bringing grief to the Prophet ﷺ's own household. This is taken as a lesson that this world remains a place of trial, even at its most joyful moments.
