Said after the Quraysh directed mocking poetry against the Prophet ﷺ.
~Early Madinan period; exact date not given in this account
Hassan ibn Thabit was the official poet of the Prophet ﷺ. The Quraysh composed poems attacking the Prophet ﷺ. He told Hassan, "Stand up, O Hassan. And defend me. And the angel Jibril will be with you." The angel Jibril would inspire Hassan with the words to answer them. Hassan was later given his own minbar (pulpit) in the masjid to stand on while reciting his poetry. He is the only companion known to have had a minbar of his own.
Establishes Hassan ibn Thabit's unique station among the sahaba as the Prophet ﷺ's poet.
