This is a man who has treachery written on him.
Abu Sufyan ibn Harb, by then the senior leader of the Quraysh, offered a reward to anyone who killed the Prophet ﷺ. A Bedouin took up the offer. Abu Sufyan gave him a camel, food, and weapons and sent him to Madinah, where the man pretended that he wanted to accept Islam.
When he entered the mosque, the Prophet ﷺ said, "This is a man who has treachery written on him." The companions seized him, and a dagger fell from his belt. The Prophet ﷺ told him, "If you are truthful to me, I shall let you go." The man confessed everything. The Prophet ﷺ kept his promise and let him go, and the Bedouin then accepted Islam.
Outcome: The would-be assassin embraced Islam. Despite this and other plots against him, the Prophet ﷺ still honored Abu Sufyan at the Conquest of Makkah and after the Battle of Hunayn.
