~early years of dawah in Makkah, before the Battle of Bu'ath
In the early days of his dawah (calling people to Islam), the Prophet ﷺ spoke to a young man of the Khazraj, one of the two Arab tribes of Yathrib. The young man came close to accepting Islam. However, his chieftain talked him out of it, telling him to mind his own business and not to worry about the Prophet ﷺ. The young man was later killed in the Battle of Bu'ath, a war between the tribes of Yathrib. It is reported that as he was dying, he was glorifying, praising and magnifying Allah (saying the tasbih, tahmid and takbir).
Together with the story of Suwayd ibn al-Samit, a poet of the Khazraj who heard the Qur'an from the Prophet ﷺ, this shows that the message of Islam had reached Yathrib before the Khazraj formally accepted Islam at Aqaba.
Other events recorded around the same time. Their order within the year is not established; use the storyline above for the sequence.
