The Quraysh wanted to expose the Prophet ﷺ as a false prophet. The Arabs knew little about prophets, but the Jews had received prophet after prophet. So the Quraysh sent envoys to the Jews of Yathrib, the town later called Madinah, and asked for a question that would expose him. The Jews told them to ask him about Ishaq (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob) and Yusuf (Joseph), and about what had happened to the family of Ya'qub. When the Quraysh put the question to the Prophet ﷺ, Allah revealed the whole of Surah Yusuf in reply. It told the story of Ya'qub's family in detail, a story the Arabs had known nothing about.
The revelation of Surah Yusuf answered the Quraysh's attempted trap in full, demonstrating knowledge the Prophet ﷺ could not have obtained from any human source.

“That is from the stories of the unseen which We reveal to you [O Prophet]”
This is the Qur'an's own commentary at the close of Surah Yusuf, affirming the Prophet ﷺ could not have known this story except by revelation -- directly answering the test described at this event.
“And most people will not believe -- no matter how keen you are --”
Part of Surah Yusuf, which Allah revealed in full in response to the Quraysh's quiz (relayed via the Jews of Yathrib) about the family of Ya'qub AS -- see the DB event description; Yusuf 103's closing reflection that most people will not believe belongs to that same single-occasion revelation.
