Given into the Prophet ﷺ's service by my mother at seven years old, in hope that the Prophet ﷺ would pray for me.
~Around the beginning of the Madinan period · 1 AH
Anas ibn Malik RA was brought to the Prophet ﷺ at seven years old and served him for the next ten years. His mother gave him into the Prophet ﷺ's service, hoping the Prophet ﷺ would pray for her son. The Prophet ﷺ asked Allah to bless Anas RA in his life, his wealth, and his children.
Anas RA lived for over 110 years, at a time when most people died at around 30. He became a wealthy and successful businessman. He lived to see his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren, blessings that are attributed to the Prophet ﷺ's prayer for him.
One of many attested instances of the Prophet ﷺ's du'a being answered in a companion's life, and the origin of Anas ibn Malik RA's decade of close service and narration of the Prophet ﷺ's daily life and character.
