Zaynab bint Khuzayma (Umm al-Masakin), a wife of the Prophet ﷺ, belonged to Banu Hilal of Najd rather than the Quraysh.
Zaynab bint Khuzayma al-Hilaliyah was not of the Quraysh but of the Banu Hilal of Najd. Even before Islam she was known as Umm al-Masakin, "Mother of the Poor", because she cared for the poor and for orphans. According to one report, her husband was Ubaydah ibn al-Harith. He was one of the three Muslims who fought in the single combat that opened the Battle of Badr. His leg was cut off, and he later died of the wound. After her husband's death, the Prophet ﷺ married her, probably around the 3rd year after the Hijrah.
