“Has he made our objects of worship into one? This is something that is crazy (we have never heard of this before).”
This ayah (Q38:5) is the Qur'an's own quotation of the Quraysh's reaction at this meeting, when they realized the "one word" the Prophet ﷺ wanted was "there is no god but Allah."
“My Lord! Forgive me, and grant me an authority that will never be matched by anyone after me. You are indeed the Giver [of all bounties].”
