الطفيل بن عمرو الدوسي
Al-Tufayl ibn Amr al-Dawsi RA was the chieftain of Daws, a Yemeni tribe, and the man through whom Abu Hurayrah RA came to Islam. Visiting Makkah around the seventh year of prophethood, he was so frightened by the Quraysh's warnings that he stuffed his ears with cotton, but hearing the Prophet ﷺ recite at the Ka'bah, he chose to listen and accepted Islam. The Prophet ﷺ prayed, "O Allah, guide Daws," and more than eighty families of his tribe accepted Islam through him. He gave up his chieftaincy to emigrate to Madinah with many of his people around the time of Khaybar in 7 AH. After the Conquest of Makkah the Prophet ﷺ sent him to destroy Dhu al-Kaffayn, the great idol of Daws.
