Salit ibn al-Nu'man RA was a secret Muslim living in Makkah. In 3 AH, with the coastal route to Syria no longer safe, the Quraysh planned to send a rich caravan by a new route that they meant to keep secret. One of the elite of the Quraysh, drinking wine with Salit, boasted that the Quraysh had a plan no one could outwit and described the route. Salit passed the information to the Prophet ﷺ, who sent Zayd ibn Harithah RA to intercept the caravan. The whole caravan fell to the Muslims, with its camels, leather and more than fifty thousand dirhams in silver.
