Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib's father was a Companion who gave the Pledge of Ridwan under the tree at Hudaybiyyah in 6 AH, yet afterwards could not tell which tree it had been. His son cited this against those who later venerated a tree as the tree of the pledge.
