Abbad ibn Bishr RA

Abbad ibn Bishr RA was a Companion known for his extraordinary love of prayer. Standing guard with Ammar ibn Yasir RA on the return from Dhat al-Riqa, he was struck by arrows while praying and pulled them out rather than break off his recitation, said to be Surah Yusuf, waking Ammar only when he was about to faint. He said that but for the duty the Prophet ﷺ had given him, he would rather have died than stop his prayer.
