Ibn Abbas RA narrates that the Prophet ﷺ married Maymunah while in the state of ihram. Authentic narrations, including from Maymunah RA herself, state clearly that he was outside of ihram (in the state of hil) when the marriage took place. The majority position, and scholarly consensus, favors Maymunah's account; Ibn Abbas appears to have made an honest mistake.
Maymunah bint al-Harith was the sister of Umm al-Fadl, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ's uncle al-Abbas. She had been widowed when her husband Abu Rahm ibn Abd al-Uzza died, and she did not want to stay among the Quraysh of Makkah. She asked her sister to find her a husband.
During Umrah al-Qada, al-Abbas went to the Prophet ﷺ. He said that he was Maymunah's guardian, and he praised her highly. The Prophet ﷺ had known of her from his days in Makkah, and he agreed to marry her. Al-Abbas arranged the marriage, and the contract was made on the third day of the Umrah.
The Quraysh then came to say that the agreed three days were up. The Prophet ﷺ asked whether he might stay a little longer as a newly married man, and invited them to a wedding feast. They refused, so he kept to the treaty and left. The marriage began only after they had left Makkah, at a place called Sarif.
Maymunah RA was the last woman the Prophet ﷺ married, and she was also the last of his wives to die. She died at Sarif in 51 AH and is buried there to this day.
Maymunah RA is counted as the last wife the Prophet ﷺ married. The episode also shows the Prophet ﷺ using even his own marriage as a vehicle for dawah, offering hospitality to soften the hearts of the Quraysh.

Now widowed and unwilling to remain among the Quraysh, Maymunah asked her sister Umm al-Fadl to find her a husband, so Umm al-Fadl told her husband al-Abbas, who went straight to the Prophet ﷺ.
Is it truly so hard for me to stay a little longer among you? Let me be a groom among you a while more, and tomorrow we will have a feast: come and enjoy the food.
The Quraysh came to tell the Prophet ﷺ that the agreed three days in Makkah were up and that he must leave.
